CMS to Host CCC in 2026-27

July 16, 2026

Central Community College and Columbus Public Schools (CPS) have entered a partnership that will allow the Raiders to play home volleyball and basketball games at Columbus Middle School (CMS) during 2026-27.

The temporary move is necessary as the Raider Fieldhouse undergoes a major renovation and expansion. The project will modernize the facility with improved athletic training spaces, enhanced accessibility, expanded community gathering areas, and upgraded amenities.

“This partnership reflects the strong relationship between Central Community College and Columbus Public Schools,” said Mary Young, CCC director of athletics. “We're grateful to CPS and I can't say enough about the collaboration of its staff in making this arrangement possible. We're thankful to keep our home games in Columbus during the Raider Fieldhouse renovation and are excited about what these improvements will mean for our student-athletes and the community.”

As the former Columbus High School, CMS is adequately equipped to host collegiate volleyball and basketball contests. The middle school may also host select postseason contests, pending qualification and scheduling.

“Columbus Public Schools is glad to return the favor, as some Discoverer teams have been fortunate to use CCC facilities in the past,” said Dr. Chip Kay, CPS superintendent. “Community partnerships are very important to us and CCC has provided so many opportunities for our students.”

Additional information regarding game schedules, ticketing and game-day information will be shared by CCC athletics before each season begins.

“We are grateful to Columbus Public Schools for its collaboration and support while the Raider Fieldhouse is renovated,” said CCC-Columbus President Dr. Kathy Fuchser. “By working together and sharing resources, Central Community College is able to continue providing an outstanding experience for our student-athletes while demonstrating the positive power of community partnerships.”
