Saint To Lead Shotgun Sports
June 6, 2024
Central Community College athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Saint as the inaugural coach of shotgun sports.
Saint comes to CCC from Hastings College, where he served as head coach of shotgun sports for four years. During that time, he led the Broncos to American College Unions International (ACUI)/Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) national championships in American skeet doubles and combined skeet disciplines. In 2023, Hastings finished as national runners-up in American skeet singles, American trap singles, and sporting clays. In 2024, the Broncos were national runners-up in super sporting. In both 2023 and 2024, Hastings posted the second high overall score at the ACUI/SCTP Division III nationals.
“We are excited to welcome Michael Saint to our team and look forward to the growth and success of our shooting sports program under his leadership,” said Mary Young, CCC director of athletics. “His dedication and proven success in the field make him an excellent addition. Michael’s extensive background in shotgun sports and familiarity with the Hastings area make him a perfect fit for Central Community College. We are confident Michael’s leadership will elevate our shotgun sports program to new heights.”
Saint had a successful career at Fort Hays (Kan.) State University. He helped lead the Tigers to SCTP Division II national championships in 2016, 2018 and 2019, and the ACUI Division II national championship in 2019. Individually, Saint was named as an NRA All-American Shooter in 2018.
“I’m excited to be starting the shotgun team at CCC as the inaugural head coach,” said Saint. “Shooting has been an important part of my life and I can’t wait to introduce the sport at CCC-Hastings. I am looking forward to helping students excel on the shotgun range and in the classroom while instilling the values of discipline, focus and sportsmanship.”
CCC shotgun sports will begin competition in the 2024-25 academic year and will be based at the Hastings Campus.
