Residence Halls Forthcoming at GI

July 10, 2026

The Central Community College Board of Governors has approved funding for a new residence hall to be built on the Grand Island Campus.

At the June board meeting, the green light was given for a 40,000-square-foot, two-story, 81-bed building to be constructed on the northwest corner of the campus. Features include shared kitchen areas, study spaces, laundry facilities, a pickleball court and a sand volleyball court.

“I am incredibly excited for our students to experience on-campus living in Grand Island,” said CCC-Grand Island President Dr. Marcie Kemnitz. “This will provide them with more opportunities to engage in the college experience and the community.”

The cost of new residence hall is estimated to be approximately $14 million. Construction will begin this summer and is expected to take one year for completion.
