9/11 Memorial 1.25 mile
9/11 Memorial 1.25 mile run/walk is a way to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. Many first responders ran into the World Trade Center Towers that day knowing they would not return. They did this to help their fellow men and women who they swore an oath to protect. We invite the community to run/walk 1.25 miles, the equivalent of 110 stories, the height of the each tower. At the equivalent distance of the 78th floor, the highest floor which was reached by firefighters, area first responders will ring a tribute bell in honor of their fallen brothers and sisters. We are challenging area fire departments and first responders to walk in full gear alongside the Hastings Fire Department to honor those lost in the line of duty on that tragic day, 20 years ago.
