Academic Success Center - Grand Island

Tutoring session at the Grand Island Academic Success Center The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides many services for students. These include on-campus tutoring, online tutoring, computer lab and computer assistance, and the academic skill builder workshop.

Tutoring is a free service to our students. Our tutors have knowledge in specific subjects and will act as a learning resource for you. They will help you review and study what you've learned in class. One-on-one and group tutoring is available in selected subjects.

We are also seeking students who want to become tutors. If you have an above average grade in a specific course and want to help others learn, then you may qualify. Our tutors are paid and set their own hours with individual students or study groups.

Virtual Tutoring

Students can access subject specific tutors at scheduled times simply through virtual tutoring. This will allow face-to-face tutoring in real time.

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental Instruction is offered in courses that are historically difficult for students. In this effort, a former student, who excelled in the area, attends the class and then offers additional teaching sessions to students. These sessions are held at times that accommodate student schedules like weekends, evenings, etc. Currently, SI sessions are offered for students enrolled in Anatomy and Physiology I and College Algebra.

I am 58 years old and have ADHD and dyslexia. At my age, it is a joy to come to the ASC and know there will always be staff members available to help me with my math and English problems. I always appreciate the help, and would not be successful without it. Come to the ASC and you will succeed.
