We are also seeking students who want to become tutors. If you have an above average grade in a specific course and want to help others learn, then you may qualify. Our tutors are paid and set their own hours.

What is the Writing Center?

The Writing Center offers free, one-on-one assistance to Central Community College students as they strive to improve their writing skills. We provide CCC student writers with a welcoming, inviting, collaborative and supportive atmosphere in which they can develop their skills and make informed decisions about their writing. We promote writing excellence and success of students in both their academic and future careers. The Writing Center also offers free, one-on-one collaboration to Central Community College faculty and staff as they create assignments for their courses, write for publication, update their resumes and CVs, etc.

How do I use the Writing Center?

The Writing Center in Grand Island is located in room 451. Students are encouraged to schedule appointments ahead of time. We accept drop-ins, but a Writing Coach might not be immediately available. Please contact the Academic Success Center Coordinator for more information or for assistance in scheduling an appointment. For further questions, contact Allie Remm or Kay Clarke at 308-398-7394.

Supplemental Instruction

Supplemental instruction is offered in courses that are historically difficult for students. A former student who excelled in the class facilitates group study sessions where students work together to practice the material through activities. These sessions are held weekly at a time that accommodates student’s schedules. Supplemental Instruction is a free service and participation is voluntary.

My name is Sowda Elmi. I am from Somalia. When I started going to Central Community College, I used to have a lot of difficulty because of the different language and I never knew much about school. Until one day I was talking to my teacher about how I can get more help. She told me I could visit the tutoring center which could give me more help, and try to explain things better to me. I was very happy. I really enjoy it, especially with my writing skills and math problems. Trust me, if you visit the tutoring center, you will not regret it. There is always someone to help you.
