ENGL 0960

Register for ENGL 0960 to improve vocabulary, reading comprehension skills, sentence-level grammar, and beginning paragraphing skills.

Students taking ENGL 0960 should feel confident reading directions, reading articles and short textbook passages, responding to readings, constructing complete sentences, and short paragraphs.

In ENGL 0960 students will learn to develop and improve basic grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure skills while being introduced to the writing process. They will also develop and improve reading comprehension skills, reading strategies, vocabulary, and reading flexibility at an intermediate level.

 

ENGL 0970

Register for ENGL 0970 to improve college-level vocabulary, reading comprehension skills including how to read college-level textbooks and articles, advanced paragraphing skills and beginning essay-writing skills.

Students taking ENGL 0970 should feel confident reading and responding critically to articles and textbook passages and composing paragraphs and short essays.

In ENGL 0970 students will expand upon grammar, usage, and sentence structure skills while employing the writing process effectively. They will also develop and improve reading comprehension skills, reading strategies, vocabulary, and reading flexibility at an advanced level.

 

ENGL 1000

Students taking ENGL 1000 should feel confident reading and responding to brief articles and textbook passages; as well as, composing and editing complete sentences and short paragraphs.

In ENGL 1000 students will gain an understanding of the relationship between strong writing skills and college/career success. Students will compose professional emails, resumes, brochures, and other business-focused writings. Intended for AAS students.

ENGL 1010
Students taking ENGL 1010 should feel confident reading and responding to multiple college-level material. Be skilled in grammar, usage, sentence structure, and proofreading skills. Should also feel comfortable writing multiple-page essays. In ENGL 1010 students will practice the techniques of effective writing. They will work through the process of planning, writing, revising, and editing essays. Students will compose multiple papers including a personal, an informative, and a persuasive essay. They will learn academic research and citation techniques.
