Verifying your FAFSA information

You may be required to provide documentation to verify the accuracy of information reported on the FAFSA. If you are selected for verification, please submit the requested documents as soon as possible. Those documents can be found on our Commonly Used Forms page. You only need to complete the forms requested.

Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to simplify the process.

If possible, you should use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool when filing your FAFSA. You can also use it to process a correction to your FAFSA, if necessary. Some individuals are not eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool due to changes in marital status, death of a spouse, or other major changes in tax filing status. In this event, please refer to your tax return documents for the appropriate year.

In the event you are selected for verification of any elements on your financial aid application, it is imperative that you respond to the request as soon as possible to avoid processing delays.
