Hastings Graduation Checklist

The Hastings Campus of Central Community College will host commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 3 p.m. in the Dawson Building Gymnasium.

Please read these important dates, and complete the following checklist

  • Right away: Please review all material in this checklist and the Important graduation information that follows. Some college student groups require additional steps to ensure appropriate recognition during the ceremony.
  • Monday, April 15: If you plan to participate in the Hastings graduation ceremony and/or the graduation appreciation breakfast, you must fill out the RSVP form. Note: If you do not submit this form by April 15, you will not be listed in the program, as a graduate participating in the Hastings Campus ceremonies.
  • Tuesday, April 16: Attend the graduation appreciation breakfast at 9 a.m. in the Platte Building, Walnut Room.
  • By Thursday, May 2: Be sure to purchase your graduation gown and regalia at the Hastings Central Bookstore prior to this date.
  • Saturday, May 4: Attend the 2019 graduation! Rehearsal will be held at 11 a.m. in the Dawson Gym. It will last approximately one hour and then you’re free to leave, but you should be back in the Dawson building, dressed and ready to go, by 2 p.m. to get lined up for the ceremony. All graduates, family and friends are invited to the reception in the Hall Student Union immediately following the ceremony.

Cap and Gown Order

Please complete the RSVP cap and gown order form with your height and weight measurements. All gowns and caps will be hunter green. Caps are “one size fits all.” The cost of the cap, gown, and tassel plus tax is $38.52. If you want your cap, gown and tassel mailed to you, the shipping cost is $7.50 for a total of $46.02. Make your check or money order payable to: Hastings Central Bookstore (please include license number and expiration date on the check.) Mail your check to: Hastings Central Bookstore, PO Box 1024, Hastings, NE 68902-9924, or pay when you pick up your gown. Gowns will be available after April 1.

Graduation Breakfast

You are cordially invited to a graduation appreciation breakfast on Tuesday, April 16, at 9 a.m. in the Platte Building, Walnut Room. The breakfast is compliments of the Central Community College Foundation and The Central Community College Alumni Association. You may attend the appreciation breakfast even if you do not attend the graduation ceremony. RSVP by April 15, 2019.

Graduation Announcements and Guest Tickets

Each graduate will receive 10 complimentary invitations and five guest tickets for friends and family to be seated in the gymnasium. Tickets and invitations must be picked up in person by the graduate at the Admissions Office in the Adams Building during regular office hours (Mondays-Fridays, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.). Tickets will be available for pick up beginning Monday, April 8. Guests not in possession of a valid ticket are welcome and encouraged to come to campus and watch the ceremony in the Cedar/Fir Room in Dawson or in the Hall Student Union.

Other Important Graduation Information

Phi Theta Kappa

Please check with a PTK advisor to confirm that your Phi Theta Kappa membership will be indicated on the graduation program. Members of Beta Alpha Delta Chapter receive a Phi Theta Kappa membership notation on their transcript record.

One of the benefits of Phi Theta Kappa membership is being recognized for academic excellence at the annual college commencement ceremonies held at the end of each spring semester. Members in good standing may call attention to their academic success by wearing Phi Theta Kappa graduation regalia with their caps and gowns.

All graduation regalia are ordered from Phi Theta Kappa International Headquarters through its online store.

PTK online store

Most member graduates choose to wear the gold honors stole, blue/gold double honors cord, and gold hat tassel. Other members also like to purchase the gold key medallion as well. No local supplies are available for purchase.

The National Society of Leadership and Success (Sigma Alpha Pi)

Graduates who are inducted members of the National Society of Leadership and Success are responsible for ordering their own honors stole and cords at www.societyleadership.org/shop/induction_and_graduation_items.Please be sure to place your order early to allow 14 business days for delivery. Inducted members have attended and completed the following: orientation, leadership training day, three broadcasts and three success networking team meetings. If you have questions about your membership status, contact one of the advisors.

In honor of our graduating veteran and current service member students, red, white and blue veterans appreciation honor cords will be made available to any graduating veteran student interested in wearing one during commencement. Contact Travis Karr at 308-398-7376 for further information.

SALUTE Honor Society

If you are a veteran or current service member and a member of the PTK/SALUTE honor society, you may wear a SALUTE honors stole. Please contact Travis Karr at 308-398-7376 for more information on how to get your SALUTE honors stole.

Are You Seeking Full-Time Employment?

If you would like your name, address and phone number included on a list of graduates to be sent to employers, please complete and sign the following release. Employers may then call you with employment opportunities. Deadline to submit the registration and release is May 4, 2019.

Iris Photography Studio will be taking pictures at the graduation ceremony as each graduate receives their degree or diploma. Photographs will be available for purchase online via digital download or to be mailed directly from Iris Photography. The CCC Foundation alumni relations office will mail one complimentary 4x6 photograph to your current address on file with the registrar’s office. Please allow up to four weeks for your complimentary photograph to be mailed and make sure your address on file is current. 

Below is the link to the graduation albums. It is the same link for all campus locations, with a separate group for each. To access photos you need to enter your e-mail address. Allow 2-3 days after your commencement ceremony for photos to be available.

Degrees and Diplomas

Don’t be alarmed when you open your degree folder at graduation and find it empty! Final grades are due several days after the ceremony; thus, your final academic credit check will take place after that. If you are completing your requirements in May, you can expect your degree and/or diploma in the mail by the end of June. If you are a summer graduate, you can look for your degree and/or diploma at the beginning of September. (You should have already received your degree/diploma if you earned it in December.)

*Please note: If you have an outstanding balance with the student accounts office, you will not have access to your transcript and your degree will not be mailed to you until all remaining bills are paid. Contact the student accounts 0ffice to take care of any outstanding balances.
