Teaching is a rewarding profession for people who like to help others and work with young people and there is a great need for dedicated teachers.

The need for elementary and secondary teachers is projected grow by nearly 600,000 over a 10-year period ending in 2020, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.

A bachelor’s degree is required to be eligible for licensing as an elementary or secondary school teacher. You can complete the first two years of teacher education program through the Central Community College academic transfer program. In addition to classes in the subject areas you intend to teach, CCC provides courses for students who plan to major in education.

You also will experience what it is like to be a teacher and find out if you like teaching and have the potential a career in education by working under the direction of teachers in local schools through our Pre-Student Teaching courses.

Hastings College admits a limited number of Central Community College students under its Hastings College Bachelor Bound Teacher Education Program.

Students have the opportunity to take specified Hastings College Education classes at CCC tuition rates while completing an associate of arts degree at CCC, and then transferring to Hastings College to complete their bachelor's degree. Students transferring under this program qualify for a 50 percent discount in tuition during their junior and senior years at Hastings College.
