Lavender Farm Tour

  • Class Type: Special Programming
  • Location: Lexington
  • Start Date: June 18, 2022
  • Time: 10 a.m.

Peace Love & Lavender is an Elwood business established in spring 2013. That year they planted 500 plants the size of a pinky finger. Half were "Angustifolia” varieties, which can be used for culinary purposes. The other half were “Intermedia,” a cross between varieties that are used to make essential oils and sachets. Many more have been planted since.

Still, many plants have been lost and replaced over the years due to environmental conditions so it’s important to learn proper care for plants in our area. You’ll learn about what can and can’t grow, proper plant care, trimming in spring and harvesting in summer. You’ll see how a plant is dried, disbudded and sifted for culinary and sachet use and learn which type is best for dry arrangements. The still will be shown and so will the process of making the whole hydrosol for everything from calming bug bites, burns, shingles, and cuts to linen spray. Prime blooming occurs from mid-June through mid-July. Come enjoy the aroma and walk the Chartres labyrinth.

Preregistration is required. CODE: AVOR 9000 CLE12
