Holocaust Education Class

  • Class Type: Personal Enrichment
  • Location: Online
  • Start Date: March 30, 2021
  • Time: 7 - 9 p.m.

Holocaust education became a passion for Becki after teaching The Diary of Anne Frank to English 8 classes and then, most recently, Night to English 10 students. She attended the Belfer Conference for educators at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2017, further fueling her passion for Holocaust education, and again online in 2020. She joined the Nebraska Institute for Holocaust Education Consortium Council in 2017 and will earn her master's degree in Holocaust and genocide studies in June 2021. She has traveled to Germany with a visit to the Dachau camp site.

"The Holocaust: Life Before, During, and After" will discuss “ordinary” life in Europe before Nazi occupation, during World War II, and after Allied victory. Included in the presentation and discussion are the rise of Hitler and the Nazi party and major as well as commonly unknown elements of the Holocaust. Additionally, information and photos from her Holocaust-based trip to Europe in 2019 will be shared. This class will be offered via WebEx.
