This course will cover the basic uses of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that are most relevant to business and governmental work. We will cover basic ways to manipulate data within the system to allow answering questions using the RSRI GIS software and creating maps to display visually the data for optimal presentation. Skills covered will include querying data, joins and relates, editing data, and mapmaking. If time permits, more advance skills can be addressed for students that have progressed beyond the basic skills. The class will meet Mondays, Feb. 1-22.
