To sit and listen to Tom Bassett talk about two of his favorite subjects, antiques and coins, you become acutely aware of his extensive knowledge and fascinating historical storytelling. He has spent the last 30 years appraising heirlooms such as jewelry, furniture, pottery, coin collections, etc., at the request of families to presenting fun and enjoyable workshops for the public. In every appraisal, Tom will contend it is the stories behind every piece or collection that he finds rewarding and intriguing.
To this delightful gathering, we invite you to bring two items. Tom will offer an appraisal, if you wish, and a historical reference but, probably more importantly, will ask you to share the story behind the piece. As in every one of Tom’s presentations in Columbus, homemade pie is included.
Tom is past president of the Lincoln Coin Club and a 35-year member of the New England Appraisers Association. In 1983, he conducted what is the largest antique appraisal in Nebraska at Pioneer Village in Minden.
