Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to take the state competency examination, which consists of a written and skills test.

Nursing assistants (also known as nurse aides, orderlies, patient care technicians and home health aides) assist patients with daily living tasks. They work in nursing homes, hospitals, mental health facilities, assisted living facilities and private homes.

Being a nursing assistant can also be a stepping stone to becoming an LPN, RN or other health professional. Job prospects for nursing assistants are expected to be excellent due to the increasing long-term-care needs of an aging population.
