  • Class Type: Emergency Medical Services
  • Location: Grand Island
  • Start Date: May 28, 2024
  • Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 1 - 5 p.m.; Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

This class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 28 through Aug. 1, and Saturdays, June 8 and July 20.

Orientation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on May 21.

This Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class will be taught by certified Nebraska Emergency Medical Technician instructors in the hybrid ”flipped classroom” style. Students are expected to complete the online coursework prior to each class meeting. The Tuesday classroom portion will meet for hands-on skills. EMT Bridge and Pre-Hospital Emergency Care for Nurses are taught in conjunction with the EMT class.

The EMT class prepares students for Nebraska licensure as a basic life support EMT. CPR certification is required to take this course.

The EMT Bridge class covers the material necessary for a student to progress from Emergency Medical Responder to EMT. CPR certification and a current Emergency Medical Responder license are required to take this course.

The Pre-Hospital Emergency Care for Nurses class prepares nurses to work in the field as an EMT. It recognizes the formal training the RN or LPN has already received to avoid unnecessary repetition. CPR certification and a current RN or LPN license are required to take this course.

The courses meet State of Nebraska guidelines and prepare students to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) written and practical exams.

The cost of each class includes a digital text and an assessment package.

Healthcare Provider CPR classes will be offered at CCC-Grand Island from 6 to 10 p.m. on April 16 and May 14. The cost is $69.
