Basic Welding Training

Would you like to learn a new skill? If so, this training program might be for you. It's open to all students out of high school.

Participants will learn about basic blueprint reading, safety and setting up, adjusting and welding using Gas Metal Arc Welders. Those who successfully complete the program will receive a helmet, welding jacket, side cutter and gloves. They also can earn $15 to $18 per hour as an entry-level welder and $18 to $24 per hour as an experienced welder.

The training program will meet Mondays through Fridays, July 8-26. Students must wear steel-toed shoes. Preregistration is required by June 21.

GAP funding that covers the total cost of the program is available to individuals who meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Fall below income guidelines listed.
  • Be a U.S. citizen or qualified alien under the Federal Immigration or Nationality Act.
  • Be a resident of Nebraska.
  • Demonstrate the capacity to learn.
  • Has the desire to work full time.
  • Ability to complete the training program.
