Beginning Wood Carving

Discover basic wood carving techniques and learn about the tools, woods and history associated with traditional carving. You will learn sharpening skills and painting techniques while keeping safety as the top priority. Initially, the instructor will provide your wood carving knife and tools and safety gloves; however, you will be expected to order your own. If you have any wood carving tools, bring them along. There will be a nominal fee payable to the instructor for the wood you will be carving. The basic projects are intended to introduce you to the use of the knives/tools and give you the confidence to delve further into the art of woodcarving. The class will meet Thursdays, Sept. 10 through Oct. 15.
