Mariner's Compass Barn Quilt with Advanced Techniques

  • Class Type: Arts and Crafts
  • Location: Grand Island
  • Start Date: May 11, 2022
  • Time: 5 - 8 p.m.

In this class, you will be taping and painting a pre-drawn Mariner’s Compass design barn quilt. You will also learn how to draw your own Mariner’s Compass barn quilt, use a rubber stamp to give the illusion of a print fabric and learn about cutting, taping and painting lines that are not straight. This class will also include how to personalize your barn quilt with lettering and stencils. Bring a few rubber stamps to use for “fabric” prints; a spouncer is great way to make polka dots — so bring that, too.

Bring yellow Delicate FrogTape (preferably 1.41 inch size; most home stores carry it), a hairdryer and heavy duty extension cord. It is best to take this class after taking Rose's Barn Quilt Basics workshop to learn the basics before taking on these specialized techniques. We now have three sizes to choose from (in feet) 2-by-2, 3-by-3 and 4-by-4. Our barn quilts are not made of wood; we use a composite material that will not warp, is lighter and will never rot.
