Repairing clothes is a sustainable fashion trend that can also be fun, creative and decorative. We'll try several Different "patching" ideas that add a little personality and color to clothing or could be used as pure decoration. Shashiko embroidery and darning will be our primary discussions as we practice the techniques. Beginners through experienced stitchers will enjoy the possibilities of visible mending. Please bring scissors and something that needs mending if you have it. Practice fabric, needles, hoops and threads will be provided.
Sally Brandon is the owner of “The Shepherd’s Studio” in Phillipsburg, Kan. She first learned to weave and do bobbin lace on an International 4-H Youth Exchange (IFYE) to Finland in 1988. Sally starting teaching courses after the trip and has taught fiber courses for over 30 years now.
