Next Movie Classes Set for Feb. 7 & 9 in Grand Island

January 08, 2018

Two movies will be featured in February as part of the Beyond the Screen series and the Friday Afternoon Movie Club at Central Community College-Grand Island.

“Moonstruck,” the Beyond the Screen movie, will be shown at 6:30 on Feb. 7. In this 1987 romantic-comedy, Loretta agrees to marry her dull-witted boyfriend. When she goes to invite Johnny’s estranged brother, Ronny, to the wedding, they discover a mutual attraction. Although she tries to resist, Ronny isn’t shy about pursuing her while Johnny is out of the country. As love blossoms between them, Loretta discovers she isn’t the only member of her family involved in a secret romance.

“A Bug’s Life” will be shown at 1 p.m. on Feb. 9 for the Friday Afternoon Movie Club. In this 1998 animated film, the inhabitants of Ant island have to give up a large portion of their harvest to greedy grasshoppers. Flik finally decides he’s had enough and sets off to get outside help and ends up with an out-of-work troupe of performers from a second-rate flea circus. Will the budding friendship between the aunts and the circus bugs save the day?

Both the Wednesday and Friday movie series are offered free of charge and are open to people who enjoy watching and discussing movies. The movies will be followed by a discussion with CCC English instructor Jim Kosmicki serving as moderator.
