Placement Report 2002-03
The 2002-03 CCC Graduate Report shows that our alumni continue to do
well in pursuing their post-CCC interests. Graduates of our career and
technical education programs are doing well in the job market and our
academic transfer graduates are successful as they continue their
education at four-year colleges.
This report summarizes information gathered from surveys of graduates by
the CCC placement offices, as well as providing information to students
and employers about services available through the placement offices at
our Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings campuses.
The chart
provides detailed information on how graduates from each of our career
and technical education programs fared in the job market. Following are

Placement Services
Central Community College offers placement services on each of its three
campuses. The campus placement offices provide a point of contact
between students and employers. Placement services include assistance
with resume preparation and critiquing, cover letter writing,
interviewing techniques, job search guidance, credential file service
and posting employment opportunities.
The placement office seeks career employment opportunities and links
graduates with potential employers. Part-time and temporary placement
registration also is available to students. Area employers contact our
placement offices daily with a wide variety of employment opportunities.
Central Community College provides comprehensive employment services to
its students at no charge. Other employment activities include on-campus
links with the local Nebraska Workforce Development offices and
Cooperative Education internship opportunities. The Cooperative
Education internship program is designed to grant college credit in a
student’s major for training acquired on the job.
Employer Placement Services
Central Community College is a great place to start if you are looking
for highly qualified job applicants. We offer associate of applied
science degrees and diplomas in more than 30 career and technical
education programs.
Our hands-on approach to education gives our graduates leading-edge
skills in their chosen fields, and general education courses provide the
communication, math and human relations skills that employers tell us
are important in every job. The placement office can help match student
qualifications to employer needs.
Most of our students work while they are in college so our placement
offices are a good source of part-time help, too.
Academic Transfer
Central Community College offers academic transfer programs that are specifically designed to provide the first two years of a four-year degree. CCC is one of the 24 Nebraska colleges that signed the Nebraska Transfer Initiative in November 1995, agreeing to accept a common core of 34 semester-hours of credit completed at any of the colleges.
The Nebraska Transfer Initiative is designed to smooth the transfer process for community college graduates who want to complete a bachelor's degree.
Through specific transfer agreements with individual institutions, students completing associate of arts or associate of science degrees can transfer up to 66 semester-hours of credit earned at Central Community College to many four-year colleges.
Colleges that have provided transfer guides for community colleges include the University of Nebraska campuses at Kearney, Lincoln, and Omaha, Doane College, Wesleyan University, Peru State College and Wayne State College.
Academic transfer graduates have transferred successfully to 21 public and private four-year colleges in Nebraska and more than 50 out-of-state colleges.
Follow-up studies show that graduates of Central Community College academic transfer programs are well prepared to continue their education following graduation. Their overall grades are comparable to other juniors and seniors who attended UN-L for their first two years of college.
