The Nebraska Nurse Practice Act requires that the candidate for nursing should possess good moral character, sound mental health and state of physical wellness, dependable work history, and general accountability and trustworthiness. Applicants who have criminal records, substance abuse problems or health problems that interfere with the safe practice of nursing may be ineligible for admission to the program and licensure.

A background check is required before entrance into either of the nursing programs.  The check will be completed by Central Community College.  If you have any questions or concerns about past legal problems, please contact Dr. Marcie Kemnitz, Dean of Health Sciences at 402-461-2463 or mkemnitz@cccneb.edu   As per the college’s Background Check Procedures, a student who has a felony conviction will not be able to participate in the nursing program.  Other non-felony convictions are handled on an individual basis.
