Graphic ArtsVisual ID Systems Students created visual identities for a variety of new area businesses. View Newspapers The final for the beginning layout class is a redesigned newspaper. View Logo Designs Students worked with a variety of new businesses in the area to create new logos for them. View Stipple & High Contrast Drawings Students use the stipple technique and high contrast to create black and white drawings from grayscale photographs. View Packaging A variety of packaging projects. View MART Posters Students were given the task of designing a poster for the Media Arts program. View Hastings Literacy Council Brochures The students were given a brochure to redesign. View Abstract Drawings The students used a photo to draw shapes. Then using contrasting colors, they colored the shapes to create an abstract drawing. View Exposed 2010 An art and literary magazine written, illustrated and designed by students. View Drawing Portraits On the first day of class, students were asked to draw a person from memory and a self-portrait in front of a mirror. After 2 classes of instruction in facial proportions, they drew a frontal-view self-portrait and after another 2 classes drew a 3/4-view. View Menus Adding illustrations to text using InDesign layout software. View Sound Depicting sounds without using pictures or words. View Designing with Type Using type shapes to portray feelings. View Calendars Adding photos and creating tables using InDesign layout software. View Concert Tickets Paying particular attention to emphasis on what's most important in the layout. View Less Is More Moving beyond the simple black & white image and introduce other design options by alteration. View Learning to "See" Students learn to draw what they "actually" see and not what they "think" they see. Note the improvement after only 3 classes.
