Michele Zenk

I am Michele Zenk majoring in graphic arts.  I am interested in designing logos, pamphlets, business cards, stationary, and design layouts.  I enjoy starting my day with a dose of being creative.

When starting a design I always begin with a pencil and paper.  This helps me brainstorm keywords to get more ideas flowing for the final design.  Once I feel like I have a solid idea I bring it to the computer.  Getting to know the client is important to me.  I like to manage my time well and I look forward to any challenges.

There are two designs I did that stood out to me.  I designed the annual report and it was called Challenges Changes Commitment.  I wanted to capture the audience by a simple eight-page layout.  The text fonts I used were Minion Pro and Bell Gothic Std.  The graphic’s I made throughout the layout were puzzle pieces. I put a picture in each puzzle piece showing different things at Central Community College.  This layout was difficult because once you change one thing you have to change it all.  In the end, I got all the text and pictures in the layout to fit.  Even though it was very time consuming I enjoyed this project a lot.

I also designed stationary for a pet grooming business.  The name of my business was Paradise Pets.  My target audience was small, cute, high-class, and dogs that live where it is tropical.  My graphic that I designed was a palm tree.  The font I used was Brush Script Std Medium.  I thought my design really captured what I wanted people to know about my business and the simple design layout.  Over all, I was happy with the final results of these two design projects.

Tamara Maloun

My name is Tamara Maloun, I’m 20, and im  going to school in Hastings Nebraska, at the Central Community College to become a major in graphic arts.
I have decided  that I still have a lot to learn about this profession, and the pushing of my teachers are making me the best that I can be. Even though I am still going through college, I still feel ,as if I am in the real world trying to prove that I belong here by earning my spot.
The biggest thing that I have learned is that you have to be able to take criticism and being told  what you just did is worthless and was a waste of time. For me it is to prove that I can take the criticism and make it to the top.

At a young age I would spend hours drawing anything that came to me.  That made me want to have a career in Art or Design. I am attending my second year at CCC in Hastings majoring in Graphic Arts. I am exploring a new area of creative designing in my photography class. My  goal is to work in a printing business. I plan to create original art work which may be a side line business.

These are examples of things I do in my career:
