Instructional Design Coordinator

Mel J. Janousek was a public educator for 33 years in Nebraska, the last 27 years in Columbus, NE. He taught and directed the Gifted and Talented program at Columbus Middle and High Schools, and retired in 2008. Since that time, he has been teaching in the Education program at Central Community College. Mel has provided in-service to school districts in Nebraska dealing with technology integration into all curriculum areas. He has also conducted workshops on the local, state, and national levels concerning gifted and talented education and instructional technology. He is also a published author of articles dealing with the learning process, educational program design, and questioning strategies connected to his concept of three stages of learning.

Project Staff

Dr. Dianna L. Parmley is project director and has 31 years experience at the community college and university levels. She attended a community college, taught at a community college in Kansas for ten years, was a community college administrator in Iowa, and currently is Dean of Educational Services at Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska. Her Ph.D. from Kansas State University is in Adult, Occupational, and Continuing Education.

Kathryn Ballobin is a co-project director and has over 25 years of community college experience.  Kathryn has a diverse community college background which includes: Extended Learning Coordinator, Faculty Member, and Student Services Administrator.  She is currently an instructional Associate Dean of many different disciplines including Social & Behavioral Sciences.  

Karin Rieger is a co-project director. She received both her bachelors degree in education and masters degree in adult education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Karin currently is the Associate Dean of Extended Learning Services at Central Community College in Columbus and has 22 years of experience coordinating instructional and student support services for students taking courses at off campus locations. Karin coordinates a number of continuing education workshops, conferences and residential camps for a variety of audiences. Karin received the 1999 Outstanding Adult Educator Award and the 2007 Distinguished Service Award from the Adult Continuing Education Association of Nebraska.
