1:30 pm Complimentary CCC Shuttle leaves Omaha airport
4:00 pm Workshop Begins. Get acquainted, general orientation and overview led by Dr. Dianna Parmley, Dean of Educational Services, Central Community College, and Project Director. Resource Center
4:45 pm Mel Janousek, Project Curriculum/Technology Coordinator, will introduce students to the interactive website for each week's participants. Room 507
5:00 pm Robert Palmquist, tribal attorney from Tucson, will provide legal background information about tribal relationships with the government, specifically the three tribes we are studying. Resource Center
6:30 pm Reception at Elk's Country Club (mini-buses)
6:45 pm
Working dinner at Elk's Country Club. Cash bar
6:30 pm Cultural Speaker: Matt "Sitting Bear" Jones, and Otoe-Missouria native, will lead an interpretive discussion of Native American stories

9:15 am Travel to Genoa, NE, location of Genoa U.S. Indian School, via chartered bus
10:00 am Tour Genoa U.S. Indian Industrial School, guided by Nancy Carlson, Nance County Archaeologist
11:00 am Cultural Speaker: Judi gaiashkibos, Executive Director, State of Nebraska, Commission on Indian Affairs, whose mother, a member of the Ponca tribe, was a student at the school.
12:30 noon Working lunch catered in Genoa
1:00 pm Guest Lecturer: Dr. Jean Lukesh, The North Brothers and the Pawnee Scouts. Discussion of required book.
2:30 pm Nancy Carlson will be our guide as we visit Valley View Cemetery in Genoa, where 405 Pawnee, including the six Pawnee scouts who were killed by U.S. Army soldiers, were reburied following the repatriation act. Sites of several large Pawnee villages in Nance County will be explored.
4:30 pm Return to Columbus
6:00 pm

10:30 am Tour Joslyn Art Museum. Tour will include 1) Durham Center for Western Studies, introduction to the Maximilian Journal Project; or 2) Native American and Western galleries, including works by Karl Bodmer, Alfred Jacob Miller, and other artists

1:30 pm Dr. Beth Ritter, UNO Professor, Ponca scholar

4:00 pm Guest scholar lecturer, Joe Starita, journalism professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and author of I Am A Man: Standing Bear's Journey for Justice, will discuss his research for his recent work and lead discussion of the book
