Medical Laboratory Technician

    Medical laboratory technicians (MLT) are an important part of the health care team, processing and testing patient samples to detect the presence of diseases.

    Most MLTs find employment in hospital, referral or public health laboratories, but this field of study also prepares graduates for employment in research, government and municipal laboratories.

    The CCC Medical Laboratory program is located at the Hastings Campus. Graduates receive an associate of applied science degree and are eligible to take national certification examinations offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and the National Certification Agency for Clinical Laboratory Scientists (NCA).

    Accreditation - The program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for the Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS, 5600 N. River Rd., Suite 720, Rosemont, IL 60018-5119).

    • At 2017-18 tuition and fee rates, completing the 68 credits required for the Medical Laboratory Technician degree costs:

      Nebraska residents - $6,800
      Non-residents - $9,792

      These costs are for tuition and fees only for the program of study as listed in the CCC online catalog. It does not include the cost of foundations courses, retaking courses or taking courses in addition to those required for the degree. It does not include the cost of books, supplies, tools, computers or other items that may be required.
