About Coach Melissa Kosch

Melissa Kosch is entering her first year as an Assistant Coach with the Central Community College Raiders. She is enthusiastic about the opportunity to be a part of the start of the women’s program. In addition, Kosch is a full-time faculty member in the Mathematics area. She earned her Bachelor’s from Mount Marty College, her Master’s from Wayne State and additional course work from UNL.

 

Kosch grew up on a farm 22 miles from Columbus and attended Columbus Scotus High School. At Scotus, she competed in basketball, track, volleyball and soccer. In basketball, she was team captain, All-City, All-Conference, and 3rd team All-State.

                                                                                                                               

In 2001, she continued her education at Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD on a basketball and academic scholarship. She played basketball four years and also ran cross country and track the last two years. In basketball, she was a team captain, academic All-American and honorable mention All-Conferenc. In cross country she was a national qualifier and in track she was an All-American in the marathon.

 

Upon graduation from MMC, Kosch accepted a position at Wahoo High School teaching Math & Spanish. Over the four years she spent at Wahoo, she coached junior high and high school Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball, and Track.

 

In 2009, she married her husband Jeff and moved to the Omaha area. She taught 8th grade Math & Spanish in Millard Public Schools for three years. She also coached girls and boys basketball, track, and volleyball. She was an adjunct Math faculty member at Metropolitan Community College during the three years they spent in Omaha as well.

 

Kosch draws her teaching and coaching philosophy from her experiences. She has gained tremendous insight from the outstanding teachers and coaches she has had through high school and college. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing sports, riding horses and traveling
