Raider Softball Update

The Raider softball team competed in its own Jimmy Johns/Holiday Inn Express softball tournament on Friday and Saturday and kept the wheels rolling on Sunday in the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference tournament.

Thursday started the run with home games against Southwestern CC from Creston, Iowa.  Splitting the DH: CCC  8—SWCC  2 and SWCC   6 —CCC  2.

Jimmy Johns/Holiday Inn Express on Friday and Saturday:
CCC  13—Colby CC:—12 in five innings: An exciting game with the Raiders coming from 9 runs back to win it on a squeeze bunt in the extra inning.
CCC 0—Indian Hills CC 11…….NO Comment 
CCC  10—Northeastern JC 6:  A good win with lots of hits and good defense against this team from Sterling, Colo.  Paige Delancey got the win on the hill.

NCCAC Tournament results:
CCC  10—Southeast CC  0 in 5 innings:  Kate Behnk got the win and everyone, including backup players contributed to the win. Caitlin Fehringer hit a grand slam HR.
CCC  14—McCook  8:  Kate Behnk pitched a good game and the team scored early.
CCC  13—North Platte CC  8:  Paige Delancey pitched a good game and Lindsay Larson hit a 2-run HR.

A good weekend for the team.  Thursday through Sunday: 6 wins and 2 losses.

Six players earned all-conference honors after Sunday’s games:  Paige Delancey, Columbus; Kate Behnk, St. Paul; Caitlin Fehringer and Kristin Carroll, Wayne; Lindsay Larson, Stromsburg; Paige Otte, Wahoo .

Coach of the Year goes to the conference champion, Jack Gutierrez

CCC has been crowned conference champion four years in a row.

Things continue to stay busy. Home games are scheduled Wednesday against Doan JV at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., and Thursday against Midland JV at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.  

The team has Monday and Tuesday off to take care of business and get rested.
