Veteran Mentoring program

Veteran Mentoring program

Here at Central Community College, we are familiar with the challenges that our Veteran and Military students face in the transition back to school and civilian life.

The Veterans Resource Center is offering a new Volunteer Veteran-Mentoring program to promote a successful transition from Military to the academic environment. We are recruiting Central Community College faculty, staff, alumni and students who are veterans or military as volunteers in order to share, encourage, and provide support to CCC Veterans, Military and Dependent students.

Primary objective is to provide Veteran/Military students support, advice, and guidance to adapt to the demands of returning to school, to increase persistence, achieve completion, and develop professional success.

Veteran Mentors assist students with:

  • Help establishing and maintaining academic goals
    Mentoring Photo
  • Transition to campus life & civilian life
  • Guidance on enrollment and persistence
  • Access to important Student Services and necessary college or community resources
  • Meeting  with each student individually once a month
  • Connection with other Veterans/Military student on campus
  • Information on academics, student activities, and health and wellness

Mentoring Program Goals:

  • Provide individual guidance and support to each Veteran/ Military student participant over the course of his or her transition process.
  • Assist with access on information regarding campus locations, enrollment of classes, Student Services, and other necessary information through regular communication from the Student Veteran Mentor staff.

Thank you for considering being a volunteer for Central’s Veteran Mentoring Program.

  • Recommend instructors and get you proper tutors if you’re struggling in a class.
  • Refer to important College or Community resource if circumstance arise
  • Most importantly, they are fellow Veterans in the Community and at CCC who can help you transition from  their experiences.  Mentors can be called on for anything, even connecting and meeting other veterans at the school. They are here for you so don’t hesitate to use them!
