Dr. Mary A. Ferdig

 

Dr. Mary A. Ferdig is President of the Sustainability Leadership Institute, an Omaha-based nonprofit research and development organization. SLI seeks to expand awareness and build practical skills for navigating complex challenges among leaders in business, nonprofit and public sectors who share a commitment to living and leading in ways that sustain life in their organizations, communities, ecosystems and planet.

Ferdig’s 30-some-year professional career has been devoted to working with leaders from the maintenance floor to board room in an array of organizations; fifteen of those years were in the US/Canadian Electric Utility Industry. In addition to her leadership role at the Sustainability Leadership Institute, Ferdig has taught Leadership for Sustainability in the School of Public Administration at the University of Nebraska, Omaha, NE and Benedictine University in Chicago, IL and at the University of Herefordshire, Herefordshire, UK. Ferdig consults collaboratively with leaders and their teams in all kinds of organizations as they generate solutions to emerging challenges, often convening lively conflict exploration, generative problem-solving, and strategic planning conversations.

Ferdig holds BS (1980) and MA (1985) degrees in Communication Studies at University of Nebraska, Omaha, NE and a PhD (2001) in Leadership and Complex Change at Benedictine University, Chicago, IL.
