PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Virtually everything we use, from canned goods to cars, is transported by truck at some point. There are nearly 3 million truck drivers in the country today and the U.S. Department of Labor projects 258,000 job openings in the 10-year period ending in 2016.
The Nebraska Department of Labor Workforce Development division projects more than 1,200 job openings annually in the state for truck drivers with an average hourly wage of $20.29 for Nebraska drivers.
Our truck driving program utilizes U. S. Department of Transportation guidelines for training and licensure of truck drivers.
Graduates of the six-week program earn 12 college credits and are awarded a Professional Truck Driver Training Certificate. The student will complete all tests for a Commercial Drivers License.
This program offers semi tractor-trailer driving experience on the campus driving range as well as over-the-road driving under the supervision of a licensed professional driver.
The college also provides classroom instruction in vehicle maintenance, driver responsibilities, laws, rules, and regulations of the truck driving industry.
Starting salaries have ranged from $35,000 to $40,000 a year for program graduates, who have been very successful in finding jobs.
