Who is an Alumni?

What does it mean to be an alumni?
  • The definition of an alumni is:

    • a person who has graduated from a particular school, college, or university.

This definition gives us a basic understanding but what does it mean to be an alumni?

Being an alumni is a huge accomplishment it means you went from being a student to being a graduate. Being a graduate means you received a degree or diploma and that you completed a goal. Even if you took a few or many classes for self-improvement and professional development you have completed and accomplished a goal, the bottom line is you are a success!

Completion will benefit you in many ways, it gives you an edge in the workforce, gives you specific knowledge and skills to be successful, and shows others that you can follow through with the task at hand. Now that you have these skills what can you do next?

You may choose to continue on to a university or immediately enter the workforce but above all you start impacting the community around you and shaping your future.

If you graduated a while ago there is no doubt that you will have succeeded in work and life. Do you share your experience with others? Do you promote higher education and what it has done for you? Being an alumni means sharing the positive experience you had as a student. This may help others decide to try their hand at education.

There is a lot of uncertainty that goes along with college, will it pay off, will it be too hard, is this really what I want to do with my life? As an alumni of Central Community College you could help put a future student’s worries at ease by sharing something positive about your educational experience. Each person is a unique individual and sharing how you learned might be enough to spark inspiration and motivation to a future student.

This is what it means to be an Alumni.
