Next Beyond the Screen Class Set for June 7 in Grand Island

May 22, 2017

“Roxanne” will be the featured movie in a “Beyond the Screen” class on June 7 at Central Community College-Grand Island.

In this 1987 romantic comedy, C.D. Bales, the fire chief in a small American town, is witty, skillful and the owner of an enormous nose. He loves astronomer Roxanne Kowalski, but she is infatuated with Chris, a handsome but dim fireman. Bales is sensitive about his nose and speaks to the object of his adoration the only way he can: he writes love letters and allows Chris to present them to Roxanne as if they were his own.

The “Beyond the Screen” series is offered free of charge and is open to people who enjoy watching and discussing movies. The movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion moderated by CCC English instructor Jim Kosmicki to follow.
