Next Beyond the Screen Classes Set for Oct. 4 & 13 in Grand Island

September 21, 2017

Two movies will be featured in October as part of the “Beyond the Screen” series at Central Community College-Grand Island.

“Duel” will be shown at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 4. In this 1971 thriller, David Mann is driving on a two-lane highway when he passes a slow, rusty gas tanker. The never-seen truck driver appears to take offense and begins a dangerous game of cat and mouse. As the pursuit escalates, David realizes he must put aside his mild manner and fight back against the psychotic driver.

“The Witches” will be shown at 1 p.m. on Oct. 13. In this 1990 fantasy horror film, young Luke stumbles onto a witches’ convention at an English hotel. The witches plan to turn all children into mice, and when they find the spying Luke, they test the magical formula on him. Mousy Luke enlists the help of his grandmother and the hotel manager to fight the witches.

The “Beyond the Screen” series is offered free of charge and is open to people who enjoy watching and discussing movies. The movie will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion moderated by CCC English instructor Jim Kosmicki to follow.
